Debate Surrounding The CARS Program

The Cars Allowance rebate System was initiated by the US government to phase out the ironical gas guzzlers and make way for the newer and more fuel efficient car models.

Plans were laid down by the NHTSA and other agencies so as to provide systematic and quality service to the buyers.

According to the DOT, there has been a marked increase in the car sales as recorded by the auto giants GM and Chrysler who were badly hit during the recession a few months back.

Regulations state that no car that has been traded-in is to be sold to a third party so as to minimize the occurrence of scams and schemes that may try to deface the Obama govt.

The debate rages as to whether this action is justified as according to auto manufacturers and dismantlers the engine of the car is the most important piece of machinery without which the car has no value. The argument is justified when we see that without an engine there is no idea of selling the vehicle to a third party thus enabling dealers to abide by the rules put down by the scheme in accordance with the CARS program.

Though it has been said that the number of deals is about 250,000 there is no clarification by the government on the finalization of these deals thus leaving people in a fix.

Basically there is no transparency in these records for the reference of the common man.

One of the main aspects for which this scheme was initiated was to get older gas guzzling vehicles off the roads to make room for newer energy efficient models.

According to surveys it has been showed that by saving about one gallon of fule per 100 miles account for the decrease for about 20 pounds of surplus CO gas which is a dangerous substance to have in large quantities in the already polluted atmosphere.

Thus it is simple logic to reason out that an upgrade from 14 mpg to about 25 mpg is responsible for the lowering of the CO level by about 3 pounds per 100 miles traversed.

Basically these replacement car models are all engineered on the lines of energy saving schemes and are essential to keep the pollution under control by using green- fuels.

Environmental and economic effects:

Though these new cars are reliable and friendly considering the fact that most of them run on green fuels rather than conventional fuels, the resultant environmental repercussions are being studied in detail. According to analysts there is a lot of expense incurred in building these so called green vehicles in terms of man power and materials. The resultant shredding of the used cars will create a lot of plastic deposits which will then produce climatic changes regarding the safe and systematic disposal of such waste. According to leading financial analysts the destroying of cars can be co- related to the law of energy where in one for on energy is converted to another without the loss of any energy, however here there is a loss in energy where access to raw materials is being denied to industries therefore creating the opportunity for them to take on liabilities thereby endangering their stake in the economy.
